DCINY INVITATION: Handel’s Messiah on the DCINY Concert Series in New York City

Dear Connie,
In recognition of your dedication to musical excellence and due to the high quality of your audition recording, it is with great pleasure that I extend an invitation to you and the Nebo Holiday Chorus and Orchestra to participate in a performance of Handel’s Messiah on the DCINY Concert Series in New York City. This performance, planned to take place on Sunday, December 1, 2019 in Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, is of the Thomas Beecham/Eugene Goossens’ 1959 Re-Orchestration for Full Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations to you and your singers on this wonderful achievement and recognition. A limited number of ensembles are being selected for this truly special invitation. Your musicians will join with other outstanding choristers from around the world to form the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir of distinction. Your musicians will sing either Part 1 or Parts 2 & 3 that will be assigned later. DCINY, a professional production company with experience presenting at venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, provides participants with a quality experience of the highest caliber with professional musicians and soloists and in order to maintain the integrity of the music and to ensure a quality experience, we will be limiting the number of performers. The residency includes a full day of rehearsals and clinics, culminating in a performance accompanied by Distinguished Concerts Orchestra, under my baton. I am excited about the prospect of including you and your singers in pursuit of a glorious and memorable concert. It is only fitting that you are given this unique opportunity to perform in one of the world’s greatest concert halls, which itself represents excellence and musical achievement. I look forward to your call, whether it is to accept or decline this invitation, and to working closely with you in the creation of a most rewarding performance for your performers.

With kind regards, Jonathan Griffith, DMA Artistic Director and Principal Conductor

PRESS RELEASE: Nebo Holiday Chorus and Orchestra Invited to Perform Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall in New York City

New York, N.Y. – September 17, 2018
Outstanding music program receives special invitation

Distinguished Concerts International New York City (DCINY) announced today that Connie Manwaring and the Nebo Holiday Chorus and Orchestra have been invited to participate in a performance of Handel’s Messiah on the DCINY Concert Series in New York City. This performance in Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, December 1, 2019 is of the Thomas Beecham/Eugene Goossens’ 1959 Re-Orchestration for Full Symphony Orchestra. These outstanding musicians will join with other choristers to form the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir of distinction. Conductor Dr. Jonathan Griffith will lead the performance and will serve as the clinician for the residency. Why the invitation was extended Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director, and Principal Conductor for DCINY states: “The Nebo Holiday Chorus and Orchestra received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers. It is quite an honor just to be invited to perform in New York. These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community. This is an event of extreme pride for everybody and deserving of the community’s recognition and support.” The singers will spend 5 days and 4 nights in New York City in preparation for their concert. “The singers will spend approximately 9-10 hours in rehearsals over the 5-day residency,” says Griffith. “Not all of the time is spent in rehearsals since there is so much history and culture to see in New York City. However, the performance is the primary purpose for their visit to the city.” Members of the community are encouraged to give financial support in sending these singers to New York by contacting Connie Manwaring at contact@nhco.events.

Over a Hundred New Choir and Orchestra Members...

posted Oct 20, 2017, 9:32 PM by Adam Manwaring

We are pleased to announce that we now have over a hundred members of our choir and orchestra after a successful series of auditions. Many thanks to all those who came in to meet us during these auditions. We are also grateful for all the community support and particularly those who helped spread the word. We are excited to get to work at our rehearsals starting in just over a week's time.

For those who missed auditions, for whatever reason, we still need you! A hundred people may sound like a lot, but we'd love more. In particular, we could use you men out there who sing. If you're still interested in singing or playing with us this year please come to our first rehearsal. More information can be found here.

Rehearsals Posted to the Events Calendar

We have added the rehearsal schedule to the public events calendar.  Hopefully, this will help potential choir and orchestra members plan for the next few months as you consider joining NHCO. If we find it necessary to make changes due to unforeseen circumstances the calendar will be updated and NCHO members will be notified as soon as possible.

Welcome to Nebo Holiday Chorus & Orchestra

posted Sep 17, 2017, 8:39 PM by Connie Manwaring   [ updated Sep 17, 2017, 8:42 PM ]

Welcome to the NEBO HOLIDAY CHORUS & ORCHESTRA website!

The NEBO HOLIDAY CHORUS & ORCHESTRA (NHCO) was established by residents of Spanish Fork, Utah in June 2017. We hope to promote the performing arts, provide quality performances of large choral works for free to the community in Southern Utah County, and exercise and improve the artistic skills of those performing in the choir and orchestra.

During this year's Christmas season, approximately 280 musicians will be performing together to bring Handel's Messiah to our communities. Performers include auditioned professional and hobby musicians, high school students, and independent voice and instrumental music teachers, including from local public schools and area universities. The choir members and most orchestra participants are volunteers, unpaid both for the weekly rehearsals and for the two concerts performed this year.

The rehearsals will take place from the end of October through the middle of December 2017 and will involve the finest musicians from our community. We are truly honored to work with such fine musicians and would like to express our great appreciation for the support we received from Salem High School and Spanish Fork High School as well as our other sponsors. We are looking forward to seeing you at our auditions, rehearsals and/or performances on December 18th and 20th, 2017 in Salem and Spanish Fork respectively!
