LaReita Leavitt Berky
Cello Principal
grew up in Phoenix AZ. She began taking cello lessons at age 8 from Jamie Guy Kellogg. She continued her studies with Irene Sharp at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, graduating with a Bachelors in Cello Performance in 1998. LaReita and her husband, David, moved to Spanish Fork, Utah where she is the principal cellist with the Utah Valley Symphony, and principal basso continuo player for the Utah Baroque Ensemble. She maintains a small private cello studio while actively pursuing their 6 sons around town. LaReita enjoys mountain biking, hiking, gardening, and teaching her sons to take care of 'the girls' - a.k.a. the hens. LaReita loves humanitarian causes and has been to Ghana twice doing humanitarian work with Families Mentoring Families.
